ABB offers a family of DMU's under the "Flexliner" trademark. Trainsets can run in consists of 1 to 6 configured for local, suburban or intercity service.

Flexiliner 1C3dAluminum "Flexliner" car are presently in operation or on order in 6 countries in   Europe and can be readily adapted to service.
Modular subsystem design provides for high availability. Unique swing-away cab doors together with rubber "noses," automatic coupling and computerized speed control allow "Flexliner" trains to be coupled/uncoupled in seconds. Tilting suspension can be provided for routes with extreme curvature. Both diesel and electric versions are available and can operate in the same consist. The basic Bombardier DMU configuration is a 2 car coupled pair with each car powered by two engines and two transmissions. A triplet arrangement with a trailer car in the center is also available.

Siemens offers the Duewag VT 628.4/628.4 DMU, the product of 20 years of experience with the German Federal Railway. The VT 628 was introduced in 1974 followed by the VT 628.2 in 1987. Over 200 of the 628 series are in service. The latest version, the VT 628/928.4 entered service in 1992 and ó0 are presently in operation with 400 on order.
